Biochemical Characterization and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Test of the Bacterial Strain Isolated from Sandwich in Rajshahi University, Bangladesh

This study was conducted to isolate and observe the morphological biochemical characteristics of bacterial strains present in sandwich. A single colony isolated from a sandwich collected different restaurants located area University Rajshahi by plating diluted primary suspension liquid medium onto an agar solidified mineral salt after purifying through filter paper. The bacterium found be Gram-positive, coccus, motile, lactose-non-fermenting, could utilize carbohydrates. Bacterial strain showed positive result for Methyl Red test, Catalase Indole Simmons citrate test. optimum culture condition pH 8 concentration 0.1 gm/100 ml. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) value against Vancomycin 50mg/ml viable cell count indicated 459×107 CFU/ml. that resistant amoxicillin, whereas it susceptible gentamycin, ciprofloxacin, chloramphenicol. can grow harmful extent certain time incubation, which may cause health hazard.
